Recently, I enjoyed listening to three songs belonging to three different music genres. Let me start with the most popular one.
Kangal Irandaal (கண்கள் இரண்டால்...) from the movie 'Subramanyapuram' (சுப்ரமணியபுரம்) is a foot tapping number composed by James Vasanthan. Pleasing composition. Beautiful lyrics by Thamarai. Thoroughly enjoyable. Click on the You Tube link below to listen to the song.
O Sanam... by Lucky Ali is one of my favorite songs. This is an Indi Pop song from his album 'Sunoh'. Soulful song with a touch of melancholy. I love the video, shot in a desert landscape telling a story. Check this out on You Tube.
Akilandeswari Rakshamam... composed by Muthuswami Dikshitar, set in Raga Dwijawanthi. This is a carnatic classical. Though this song is rendered by different musicians, I enjoy especially the rendering by Maharajapuram Santhanam (மகாராஜபுரம் சந்தானம்). His majestic voice adds to the beauty of the composition. I just love to listen to this song again and again. Give it a try.... An excellent recording is available on You Tube.
