Papaya - Water Melon Smoothie

Summer season has started, and it is time to prepare coolers and fruit juices to quench our thirst. Though tender coconut and spiced buttermilk are all time favourites, homemade fresh fruit juices add to the variety. Papaya is one of the cheaper and easily available fruits, which has a sweeter and slightly musky taste. This healthy fruit is rich in vitamins, especially vitamin C, folic acid and vitamin A, minerals and dietary fiber. Water melon has high Vitamin C content and it is an excellent cooler, especially during the summer months. This recipe combines these two healthy fruits into a delicious drink.

Ingredients:
Papaya – peeled, cored, cut into cubes, 2 teacups or 400ml measure
Water melon pieces – 2 teacups or 400ml measure
Sugar – 4-5 teaspoons (adjust to taste)
Lemon juice – 1 teaspoon
Pepper powder – a pinch

Method: Wash, peel and remove the seeds of the papaya. Cut the flesh into small cubes. Cut watermelon into quarters and remove the seeds. Scoop out the red fleshy portion and cut into cubes. Blend papaya cubes, water melon pieces, lemon juice and sugar using a liquidizer into a thick, smooth puree. Pour into two glasses and top it with a dash of pepper. Serve chilled. Your healthy papaya-water melon smoothie is ready!
