Basmati
rice – 1½ teacups or 300 ml measure
Onion
– 1 no, sliced
Tomato
– 1 no, cubed
Green
chili – 2 no, chopped (adjust to taste)
Coconut

Garam
masala – ½ teaspoon
Coriander

Method: Wash basmati rice well, drain and keep aside. Drain the water
from soaked green gram. Heat oil in a pressure pan or handi, add cumin seeds
and when they crackle add in onions and fry till they turn light brown in
color. Add in tomato pieces and green chilies; fry for 2 minutes. Now add green
gram and basmati rice. Sauté for 3 minutes; add coconut milk, 2 teacups of
water, salt and garam masala. Mix well. Cover and cook under pressure for 4
whistles. Switch of the stove. After the pressure subsides, open the handi and mix
gently with a fork. Garnish with coriander leaves. Your pulav is ready! This dish is sumptuous and can
be served with any type of raita.
